"With friends, there is generally no heartache involved. If a friend is busy or cancels we don't tend to take it personally or worry about it too much. Ask yourself:
How will you feel if he/she ask you out, along with another opposite gender?
How will you feel if your male/female 'friend' spends all night harping on the 'machoness'/'cuteness' of his/her new friend?
How will you feel if he/she wants you to set him/her up on a date with one of your attractive friends or your own sibling?
If you are fine, fine, fine with all that, then no problem, he/she is really a friend. If you feel just a twinge or perhaps that bit of foolish + useless + unintended jealousy or downright horror, then maybe you need to ask yourself again whether he/she is really just a 'friend' and why this person seems so important to you.
An unequal rship will nearly always stay unequal. And if you are secretly hoping the friendship will blossom into some romance, then be careful of what you wish for.
Most importantly, consider the damage/effect on your self-esteem before acting without thinking."
